Meat and Bone Meal Analysis

The Analysis of Animal Feedingstuffs for Constituents of Animal Origin/Fish.

The detection of animal proteins in animal feed was brought about by BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) in cattle. BSE is a fatal neurodegenerative disease. BSE was caused by cattle being fed the remains of other cattle in the form of MBM (Meat and Bonemeal). The Meat and Bonemeal Laboratory carries out testing using light microscopy. We also provide testing for rumiant DNA in feedingstuffs using real-time PCR.
