Equine tapeworms are parasitic flatworms that infect the gastrointestinal tract of horses causing
inflammation but equine tapeworm infections are often asymptomatic, i.e. many horses may
have a tapeworm burden without exhibiting any noticeable symptoms.
Symptoms when shown, can include colic, weight loss, diarrhoea, lethargy and poor
performance. The severity of the symptoms will vary depending on degree of the infection and
underlying health problems. Severe tapeworm infections can be fatal.
