Animal Proteins in Feed

The Feed Control laboratory is a DAFM designated official laboratory for the determination of constituents of animal origin in feed samples and is the only commercial laboratory in Ireland accredited by INAB for this analysis.

Detection of constituents of animal origin in feed is required under legislation and is an important step in reducing the risk posed to animal and human health by Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE’s) including BSE.
The Feed Control laboratory can detect the presence of a variety of constituents of animal origin in feed via microscopy and PCR methods.
