Naturally Occurring Prohibited Substances (NOPS) are defined as any natural substance that can exert an effect on a horse. These substances can occur in feed or forage due to their natural presence within the ingredients used, or through inadvertent cross-contamination during processing. The Environment and Nutrition department offers NOPS screening through mass spectrometry analysis.
